Cold Forming and Temperature Guidelines

Maximum Thickness: The maximum thickness for cold forming 300, 400, Dan 450 series steel is 20mm.
Forming Temperatures: The minimum forming temperature should not fall below +20°C, and the maximum should not exceed +200°C.
Preheating Requirement: For plates over 20mm thick, or for 500 series steel, preheating is recommended before cold forming. The suggested preheating range is 150-200°C. Preheating improves deformation characteristics and helps ensure successful bending.

Bending Considerations

Due to the high hardness of wear-resistant composite steel plates, more bending force, rebound force, and a larger bending radius are required compared to traditional structural steels. To ensure quality, the following guidelines are recommended:

Use of Proper Tools: Proper tools and techniques are essential for forming. Tools that are worn, poorly lubricated, or flawed will negatively impact forming quality.
Lubrication: Lubricating the bending surface reduces friction and helps achieve better results.
Bending Radius: Use the maximum allowable bending radius and aim to bend the plate in a single pass to avoid rebound.
Preheating Plates: Plates stored in cool environments should be preheated to at least +20°C before beginning any bending operations.

For hardened or thinner wear-resistant composite steel plates, extra care should be taken during forming to avoid material failure.
