Steps for a Custom Fabrication Project

Projects in the steel industry are rarely one-size-fits-all. At Teda Steel, we specialize in custom fabrication solutions, whether large or small. Here are the steps involved when working with us on your custom fabrication needs:

Step One: Discovery

First, we identify the customer’s needs. In an initial meeting, we discuss the specific application where material handling wear may be occurring. Sometimes, customers simply require raw materials for their own fabrication processes. The goal of this step is to understand the customer’s problem and determine how we can assist in solving it.

Step Two: Inspection and Field Measurement

Next, a field visit is conducted. During this visit, we thoroughly inspect the application and assess the issue. We typically review an application showing wear that needs replacement. Occasionally, a design change is necessary. Initial and final field measurements are taken from the existing equipment to ensure accuracy.

Step Three: Discussion and Analysis

After the inspection, we discuss the best solution with the customer. We recommend materials that offer improved wear resistance and suggest any design changes needed. If only replacement parts are needed, we ensure they can be easily installed.

Step Four: Engineering

If a new design is required, our engineering team develops it. Once the design is complete, the sales representative presents it to the customer for approval. For simpler projects, we create a shop drawing for internal use. Any details requiring confirmation are sent to the customer for approval.
